This one's for the boys

I know that Stefan (my fiance) has got to get tired of looking at all my 'girly' crafts, baking, crocheting, sewing etc that I do all the time. However, I know he puts on a good face and goes along with it (Brownie points for him!) So, I wanted to use my 'crafting' abilities to make something for him. Recently, he began brewing his own beer and has become quite the beer connoisseur. I found this awesome idea on a blog I came across and thought it would be perfect for him. So I made him start saving all his bottle caps. And I turned them into these:
Beer Bottle Coasters!

This was my first experience with Resin. After reading all the instructions and warning labels on the containers, I'm not gonna lie, I was a little afraid I was going to come out with no fingers! But I was really surprised at how easy it was! The only part I had trouble with was letting it harden (about 8 hours).

My only suggestion to using Resin is to make sure you use molds that are Resin specific. If you're wondering why, take a look at what it did to the solo cups I used to mix it up in!

  1. Hey, I've been wanting to do this coaster idea too! (I think I have made enough fridge magnets now...) I have no idea what resin to use though, what did you use and where did you get it from? And what kind of thing can you use as moulds?

    I love your results!

  2. Nice work. What did you use for the mold. I want something that will have a lip on it so the moisture from the beverage won't roll onto the corner like your coasters are. *Note to self no Solo cups :)*
